The best beaches in Mallorca

Playa de Cala Barques

Playa de Cala Barques is a quiet sandy beach with crystal clear water, located on a beautiful bay and has one of the best beaches in Mallorca. There are fewer tourists there, so you will always find a good spot on the beach. Sun loungers and parasols are available for rent. We always buy those camping chairs and a beach umbrella on the trip. We then put it in the case of our car. Occasionally we sometimes rent a sun lounger on the beach. On the beach is the beautiful Hoposa Niu Hotel with swimming pool on the sea side. The link to the hotel here. There are also restaurants and cafes and is also called Cala Sant Vincinç.

S'Illot Beach

The picturesque beach with small boulders is right in front of an island where you can swim. On some parts it is shallow and you can sometimes walk. There are several rocks on the island where you can jump off. There is parking at the local cafe. We could always find a parking space there. S'Illot Beach in the north of Mallorca has a pleasant beach and is suitable for children. Be sure to bring swimming shoes, as there are many stones and rocks. For us this was also one of the most beautiful and best beaches in Mallorca.

Cala Mitjana

When looking for secluded beaches and bays, we ended up on the sandy beach of Cala Mitjana. It is not the most beautiful bay in North Mallorca, but it is quietly located. The road to the beach is poorly maintained and not paved. So watch out for the tires. At some point you come to a junction, left goes to Cala Mitjana and right goes to Cala Torta. The last part to the beach the road is in very bad condition, but we got there without damage to the car. You can park on the side of the road. There are no toilets and no bar at Cala Mitjana, but there are on Torta Beach. You can find that beach on foot about 200 meters around the corner and over a hill.

Banyalbufar

Banyalbufar has a narrow pebble beach of approximately 100 meters long. The village of Banyalbufar is located on the west coast and has only about 500 residents. It is very quiet. The sun only shines through the cliffs around 11u00 on the beach. So you don't have to hurry 😉. The water is crystal clear and ideal for snorkeling. There are many rocks in the sea and on the beach, but if you walk on for a while you will come to a concrete pier on which you can lie.

Not so good beach: Cala Figuera

The secluded beach is on a beautiful bay, but is completely covered with large boulders and is difficult to reach. The descent to the beach is steep and difficult, especially after 10u00 in the morning when it gets hot and certainly on the way back up. The pebble beach is not really child friendly and has no shady spots. I would advise against the descent for people with a lesser condition. We have been there with my parents and I am glad nothing has happened. If you like the beach to yourself, then this place is not really recommended. There were only a few goats and yep, they were suddenly there too, so the beach was full. There are no toilets on Cala Figuera. Parking is free along the street. Beautifully situated, but not suitable for everyone.
